Terms of Service
Effective October 12, 2026
Important: FamilyLife is not an emergency service
The SOS button and location sharing notify your family. They do not contact 911 or emergency services, and delivery can't be guaranteed. In an emergency, always call 911 first.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Faithful Path Ventures LLC, a Missouri limited liability company ("we", "us") about your use of FamilyLife, including this website and its associated apps (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
2. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Children, including foster children, may be added only as profiles managed by the adults in their family; they may not have their own logins. Each account is for one person; don't share your login.
3. Your account
Give accurate information, keep your password secure, and consider turning on two-factor authentication. You're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us right away at [email protected] if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
4. Families, roles and linked families
- The person who creates a family is its owner. Owners and administrators decide who is invited, what each member can see and do, and whether to link with other families.
- Information in a family is visible to its members according to those settings. Posts you share with "Linked families" are visible to linked families; Friends posts to your friends; Public posts to anyone signed in.
- Friends are individual people, separate from families. Before sharing anything Public or with Friends, make sure you have the right to share it, and never share foster children's names, photos or details.
- Only invite people you trust, and only add information about others (including children and relatives) that you have the right to share.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of everything you and your family add to the Service ("your content"). You give us a limited permission to store, copy, process and display your content only as needed to provide the Service to you and the people you share it with. This permission ends when your content is deleted, apart from limited backup copies described in the Privacy Policy.
You're responsible for your content and for having the right to share it. Don't post other people's private information, or photos of others, without their permission.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten, stalk or harm anyone;
- share another person's location, or track anyone, without their knowledge and consent (or, for a child, the consent of their parent or guardian);
- send false SOS alerts or misuse safety features;
- try to access families, accounts or data that aren't yours, or probe, scan or test the Service's security without our written permission;
- upload malware, or interfere with or overload the Service;
- scrape, copy or resell the Service, or use it to send spam.
7. Safety features
Location sharing, check-ins and SOS alerts are tools to help families stay in touch. They are not an emergency service and do not contact 911, police, fire or medical services. They depend on devices, internet connections, browser permissions, notification settings and other people seeing and responding to them. Locations update only while FamilyLife is open on a device or, with background location turned on in the Android app, about every 15 minutes; they may be out of date or inaccurate, and alerts may be delayed or not delivered. Don't rely on the Service in situations where a delay or failure could put anyone at risk; in an emergency, call 911.
8. Foster care records
Foster care records are visible only to the parents (the owner and administrators) of the family that entered them, as described in the Privacy Policy. Owners are responsible for choosing administrators they trust with that information.
The foster care features help you organize your own records. FamilyLife is not an official system of any licensing agency or state, and using it doesn't replace any record-keeping, reporting or confidentiality requirement of your agency or state. You're responsible for complying with those requirements, including rules about sharing foster children's names, photos and information. Nothing in the Service is legal advice.
9. Early access and pricing
The Service is currently in early access and is free to use. Features may be added, changed or removed as we improve it. If we introduce paid plans, we'll tell you in advance and before you're ever charged, and you'll be able to export your data and close your account if you choose not to continue.
10. Third-party services
Some features use services provided by others, such as Google Maps and Google Calendar. Your use of those features is also subject to their terms, and we're not responsible for those services.
11. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Account & security. We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, put others at risk, or are inactive for a long time; where reasonable we'll warn you first and give you a chance to export your data. We may also discontinue the Service, with at least 30 days' notice and an opportunity to export your data.
12. Disclaimers
We work hard to keep the Service available and your data safe, but the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. Keep your own copies of important documents.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Faithful Path Ventures LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the Service, including any failure or delay of location sharing or SOS alerts. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
14. Indemnity
If you break these Terms or the law in using the Service, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Missouri, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before filing any claim, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve it informally. Any legal action relating to the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Missouri, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we'll update the effective date above and notify you in the Service or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
