Keep everyone safe

  • Family map. See where family members are when they choose to share, with one-tap check-ins. Everyone decides for themselves whether to share, and with whom.
  • SOS button. In danger, broken down or hurt? One tap (with a 5-second "cancel" countdown) alerts your family and linked family nearby with your location by phone notification, email and a full-screen alarm.
  • "I'm on my way." Responders let you know they're coming, get directions in one tap, and everyone hears when you're safe.

SOS alerts your family. It does not contact emergency services; always call 911 in a life-threatening emergency. Locations update while FamilyLife is open on the person's device, or in the background with the Android app if they turn it on.

Frequently asked questions

Nothing during early access. Every family gets every feature free while we're getting started. If we ever add paid plans, we'll tell you well ahead of time and you can export all of your data whenever you like.

Your family's records (calendar, documents, medical details, foster care and the rest) are seen only by the people in your family, and only the parts their role allows. For posts, you choose each time: Public, Friends, Linked families, Family or Only me. Friends never see your family's posts or records.

Only if you want them to. Families are hidden from search unless the owner turns it on, and anyone who asks to join has to be approved by the family's owner or an administrator. You can also turn off being found by name on your own profile, and block anyone.

Yes, that's why it was built. Foster records are limited to foster parents, identifying details are encrypted and need you to confirm it's you before they're shown, every view is logged, and foster children never appear in shared feeds, directories or location sharing outside your home.

No. Each person decides for themselves whether to share and with whom, and a location updates while FamilyLife is open, or about every 15 minutes in the background only if that person turns on background location in the Android app. Turning sharing off stops it and deletes the stored location.

No. SOS alerts your family (and nearby linked family) with your location, by phone notification, email and in the app. In a life-threatening emergency, always call 911 first. Every SOS screen has a Call 911 button.

No. FamilyLife works in any modern browser on your phone, tablet or computer. On Android you can install the FamilyLife app, which adds background location if you want it. On iPhone, add it to your home screen; that's also how you turn on SOS phone alerts.
